In this video, I give my opinion about Amber Guyer’s role in the killing of Botham Jean.
DISCLAIMER: I am not offering any legal advice to viewers or those involved in the case, and I am not presenting myself as a lawyer. I have a degree in communication and I’ve studied pragmatic argumentation for years, so I am showing viewers the methods in which language can be dissected to uncover hidden societal truths.
Also, I am not implying that Amber should receive the death penalty. Its extremely difficult for me to wish death upon any human being. However, in my opinion, she deserves a life sentence. Based on the facts that I present in this video, I firmly believe she premeditated the murder of Jean.
I will use pragmatic argumentation structure to prove that Amber intentionally murdered Jean. My opinion of the case is less important than my goal of showing you how to properly structure an argument.
If you’ll notice, each time that I present a standpoint, I prove the previous sentence. I want you to try using this approach whenever you are making an argument. Or, evaluate other people’s arguments to see if they are actually proving each sentence that they are presenting.
This shouldn’t be about black and white but about what is right. If this former officer were black and killed a white man, chinese man, or any other human I'd have the same argument.
